LAHORE, Oct 29: A labourer was killed and his three other colleagues sustained injuries when the roof of an under-construction house collapsed at Justice Colony, Sattu Kutla, in the early hours of Saturday.

Police said that four labourers were at work when the roof of a room collapsed on them. As a result, they came under the debris. They were taken out of the debris in serious condition and were rushed to the Jinnah Hospital where Maqbool Hussain of Okara succumbed to his injuries while Akram, Ghafoor and Riaz Ahmad were under treatment.

BURNT: Furniture, clothes, electronics and other valuables were reduced to ashes when a fire broke out in the first floor of a triple-storey building on Lytton Road here on Thursday.

People of the area saw the smoke emitting from the house and immediately informed the fire brigade and 1122. Two fire units of the city fire brigade came to the spot and controlled the fire after a hectic effort of two hours.

However, no loss of life was reported. The cause behind the fire was stated to be a short-circuit.
