TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 29: The Punjab chief minister has approved a polytechnic institute for Kamalia. MNA Riaz Fatyana told Journalists here on Saturday that Rs140 million would be spent on the construction of building and hostels of the institute.
The amount would be released in phases. In the first phase, Rs10 million would be spent on the construction of college building, he added. He said courses in sugar technology, computer software and garments would also be included in the syllabus.
PPP: Former MNA and district PPP president Haji Muhammad Ishaq has denied the news published in a section of the Urdu press that the district and city organizations of party the were being abolished for failure in the local body election.
He said at a press conference at the district press club here the party high command, including chairperson Benazir Bhutto, was satisfied with the performance of the local organizations and office-bearers in the district.
ROBBERY: Four gunmen drove away with an oil tanker on the Jhang-Faisalabad Road on Saturday.
The driver told police that the robber were riding in a car. They overtook his tanker in the Nawan Lahore area and asked him to stop. They held him at gunpoint and three of them forced him into the car while the fourth one drove away with the tanker.
Later, they set him free near Roshanwala in the Faisalabad Saddar police limits.
Both Toba and Faisalabad police had dispute over the limit of their districts where the incident took place. However, a case was registered by Faisalabad police.
