Misuse of disposable syringes

Published October 30, 2005

CHITRAL, Oct 29: Newly elected Tehsil Nazim Sartaj Ahmed Khan during a surprise visit of civil hospital, Darosh, found that the staff of the dental clinic of the hospital was using disposable syringes again and again. He immediately ordered the closure of the clinic.

Mr Khan said that toothache is not more serious than Hepatitis B and C which were spread by used syringes. On this occasion EDO health was also present and the hospital staff told them that disposable syringes were not supplied to them by the government and they have no alternative other than doing this.

The clinic staff contend that disposable syringes were not supplied by the government and if the patients were not treated for want of syringes, then they have to face both public criticism and censure of the department high-ups.
