ISLAMABAD: Three more accountability courts have been set up in the capital and three judges of the subordinate judiciary have been nominated to preside these courts.

With the establishment of three more courts, the total number of accountability courts in the city has reached six. There were already three accountability courts functioning in Islamabad; judges of courts one, two and three are: Mohammad Bashir, Azam Khan and Syed Asghar Ali.

District and Sessions Judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan will preside over accountability court four, Wajid Ali over court five and the nomination for accountability court six is still awaited.

Earlier, District and Sessions Judge Kamran Basharat Mufti was nominated as the judge for accountability court six, however, he was later posted as district and sessions judge (West).

A judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Shahrukh Arjumand has been nominated for the vacant position of chairman Intellectual Property Tribunal. Judge Yar Mohammad Gondal has been nominated as judge of the Banking Court while Nasir Javed and Mohammad Ali Warriach have been appointed as judges ATC I and II.

Meanwhile, Law Minister Barrister Farogh Naeem inaugurated the federal tribunal complex in sector G-10 of Islamabad.

Speaking at the occasion, Barrister Naseem said establishment of the complex is part of the government’s endeavor to provide quick, inexpensive justice. He said the law ministry has forwarded the summary for amendments in criminal law.

Moreover, the minister said that the law relating to issuance of succession certificates has also been amended as before legal heirs had to wait for months to get it; now these certificates will be issued within 15 days.
