KARACHI: Survey of high-rises ordered

Published October 30, 2005

KARACHI, Oct 29: The Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) has decided to carry out an immediate survey of all the multi-storey buildings of the city. This survey will be carried out under the supervision of consultant engineers in view of the devastation caused by the recent earthquake.

All the town buildings officers have been directed to collect details of any defects in these buildings along with their stability and other relevant details in coordination with the structural consultants and submit a comprehensive report regarding remedial measures so that the concerned builders could be asked to do the needful.

The survey will be completed in two months so that the facts thereof could be brought before the people for general awareness by Dec 31.—APP
