LAHORE, Oct 28: The Punjab education department will provide 1,000 teachers for the restoration of educational activities in the earthquake affected areas of Azad Kashmir besides dispatching 50,000 packets of academic material to the students.

Minister for Education Mian Imran Masood stated this while talking to a delegation of printers of Urdu Bazaar here on Friday.

He said teachers and students of public and private sector schools have donated a large sum in cash as well as relief items.

The minister said the Punjab has also taken up responsibility of provision of teaching staff and required material for resuming academic activities in schools of the affected region.

He said a number of qualified teachers have offered their services voluntarily, adding that about 1,000 teachers and volunteers would be sent to AJK.

Besides, 50,000 packets comprising textbooks, notebooks and other items would also be provided free of cost, he added.

The delegation comprised Pakistan Publishers Association chairman Khalid Pervaiz, secretary Sajjad Zaheer, Mushtaq Ahmad, Muhammad Tauseef, Rizwan Moeen and Abdul Moeed. Education additional secretary Akram Chaudhry was also present.

The association chairman said traders of Urdu Bazaar have so far sent relief items worth Rs3.5 million to the calamity-hit areas.—APP
