HARIPUR: Police registered a murder case and arrested owner of the crushing plant for not taking necessary safety measures for the workers, police said here on Wednesday.

An excavator driver identified as Tauseef Shah was killed when a portion of the hill used for quarrying fell on him on Tuesday. It was stated that some machinery was used for extraction and loading of quarried material for crushing plant in Suraj Gali village near Khanpur when the incident occurred.

On the complaint of Naveed Ahmed, maternal uncle of deceased Tauseef, the Khanpur police have registered a murder case under section 322 PPC against Rehman Gul, the owner, for ignoring necessary safety measures for the worker involved in extraction of stones, loading and crushing. The police have arrested Mr Gul.
