BAJAUR: People here the other day staged a demonstration against killing of a 20-year-old labourer from Bajaur in Larkana district of Sindh province by blocking the main Inayat Kallay-Laghari highway to traffic for about seven hours.

The residents, including political and social activists and traders, participated in the protest held in Umary area of Mamond tehsil.

The demonstration planned on Monday evening soon after report of Attaullah’s killing in Larkana started at about 8am on Tuesday when an ambulance carrying the victim’s body arrived at Umary junction.

The protesters were addressed by PTI district president Khalilur Rahman, ANP’s Gul Afzal Khan, traders’ leaders and others.

The speakers said Attaullah was present at his workplace in Naseerabad area when a group of workers of a political party opened fire on him. They demanded early arrest of the attackers.

MOUNTAIN FIRE: Scores of trees were destroyed when fire erupted in two mountains in Barang tehsil here on Wednesday.

Residents and rescue officials said the mountains caught fire at about 10am.

A Rescue 1122 spokesman told mediapersons the fire reduced scores of trees to ashes. He said the firefighters with the residents’ support put out the fire after hours of efforts.
