Wheat support price raised to Rs415

ISLAMABAD, Oct 26: The government has increased the wheat support price from Rs400 to Rs415 per 40kg bag for the next Rabi season to achieve a crop target of 22 million tons, which is almost 8 per cent higher than the last year’s target of 20.2 million tons.

Food, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Sikandar Hayat Bosan told a press conference that the ministry had prepared a strategy aimed at increasing the wheat productivity.

The certified wheat availability in the country is 215,766 tons against the last year’s supply of 193,444 tons. Similarly, the urea fertilizer availability for Rabi crop is 2.75 million tons, including domestic production of 2.3 million tons and import of 450,000 tons.

The water availability for Rabi season is 30.64 million acre feet as against the last year’s 23 million acre feet.—A Reporter
