KARACHI: Milk-seller shot dead

KARACHI, Oct 26: A man died and his employee was wounded while attempting to resist a dacoity in Aziz Bhatti police limits early on Wednesday morning. Police said that Khursheed, a milk seller, was at his shop when some armed bandits entered the shop for dacoity at about 3:30am. As Khursheed offered resistance, they opened fire and escaped. The milk seller died on the spot while his employee Yousaf was injured.

Aziz Bhatti police has lodged an FIR and investigations are underway.

In F.B‘ Industrial Area, a suspect was killed reportedly by a security guard on Wednesday.

Police shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem. However, police could not immediately describe the details of the incident.

FIRE: A big blaze destroyed around 50,000 wooden crates meant for fruits in Malir. However, no one was reported hurt in the incident.

Chief Fire Officer said that the fire broke out at a storage yard in Ghulam Muhammad Goth, located adjacent to Malir Bridge.

“We received the information of fire at 6:32pm. Initially, fire tenders from the nearby fire station were employed to tackle the fire, but flames were leaping up to the sky. Subsequently, fire tenders from rest of the city were called in,” the CCFO said.

The fire was controlled in about one-and-half hours. Over 60,000 wooden crates were stored in the yard. A fire officer said that the cause of the fire could not be immediately known.
