LAHORE, Oct 25: The Pakistan team for the home series against England will be announced on Saturday, Shaharyar M Khan, the chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Tuesday.

England arrive in Islamabad on Wednesday to start a 58-day tour of Pakistan which comprises three Tests and five One-day matches.

Shaharyar said that the last four-day trial match, being held at the Qadhafi Stadium from Wednesday would help the selectors announce the best possible team against England, touring Pakistan after five years.

Later in a question and answer session, the chairman pointed out that sporting wickets would be prepared for the series, but Pakistan would take full home advantage in this connection.

He advised the sponsors to give priority to Test cricket as it was the real version of the game.

To a question, the chairman strongly dispelled the impression that financial and moral corruption existed in the board.

“No I do not agree with the questioner and the board is totally running on merit,” he claimed.

He said arrangements would be made to make stadium public-friendly during the series.

“We learnt from the mistakes made during the last series against India when the spectators were not allowed to bring in anything with them in the stadium for the security reasons, now they will be provided water and food items in the stadium.”
