PESHAWAR, Oct 25: Bandits have killed the mother of Tariq Iqbal, a Lecturer of Political Science of Islamabad’s H-9 College. Mr Tariq’s parents lived in Shadman Street, Gulbihar-3, Peshawar. Some days ago, a gang of dacoits tried to loot Tariq’s father Haji Firdous when he was going to deposit money in a bank near the FC Chowk.

When he cried for help, Frontier Constabulary personnel rushed to his help and the culprits ran away. The FC personnel took him to their office and then escorted him to his home.

The incident was reported in the local press with the name and address of Mr Firdous. It is believed that the bandits took the clue from the report and found his residence.

They entered the house when Mr Firdous was not there. The bandits opened fire on his wife when she tried to resist them.

When Mr Firdous came back, he found his wife dead.

On his report, police have registered a case but were hesitating to properly investigating the murder.

The area inhabitants believe that the SHO Gulbihar receives monthly ‘gratitude’ from criminals and provides them shelter in his area. Resultantly, the rate of crime in the area has increase manifold.

Local people and heirs of the deceased have called upon the federal and provincial governments and high-ranking police officers to take notice of the incident and take immediate steps to ensure arrest of the culprits. —-Online
