THATTA, Oct 25: Relatives of two men who died of bullet wounds and in an accident, ransacked the emergency ward of the Makli Civil Hospital and manhandled doctors, paramedics and some patients on doctors’ alleged refusal to conduct autopsy of one of the deceased on Monday night.
One Sami Ataullah Pathan, a van driver was shot at and injured on the National Highway near Gujjo in Katiar village by robbers when he refused to stop his vehicle.
He was a betel-nut supplier and the bandits shot him while he was on a trip to distribute the commodity in different villages and towns.
Despite being injured, he speeded up the vehicle which went out of control and hit a pedestrian identified as Aslam Memon, a teacher by profession.
Both of them died while being taken to the civil hospital.
The doctors refused to conduct post-mortem of the driver which infuriated the relatives of the deceased who placed both the bodies on the National Highway, blocked it and then stormed the emergency ward, damaged its windowpanes and other articles.
They also manhandled, Dr Amanullah Mugheri, Dr Yousuf Memon and some paramedics.
Meanwhile, UC Makli Nazim Fida Shah and TPO Rashid Serai rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.
The doctors said that they had detached the bullet and carried out the post-mortem.
