KARACHI: David Miller was elated with his form in the ongoing HBL Pakistan Super League in Abu Dhabi before he departs for national duty in South Africa colours for the Twenty20 series against the West Indies.

Miller, who had made himself available for just three PSL fixtures this year, produced a high-class innings of 73 from 46 balls which inspired Peshawar Zalmi to a rousing 61-run victory over Quetta Gladiators at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Saturday night.

The powerful left-hander from Pietermaritzburg — who celebrated his 32nd birthday last Thursday (June 10) — praised his batting partner Kamran Akmal as the two rescued their side from 10-2 in the third over with a rollicking partnership of 125 in just 72 deliveries.

“Yeah it was really enjoyable to play a knock like that since I’ve got only three games to play for Peshawar Zalmi and it was nice to contribute for the team. And it was always good to hit a few sixes and fours,” player-of-the-match Miller said. “After the start I had, I really wanted to make amends this time [after scoring 21 in the defeat against Lahore Qalandars]. I just couldn’t sit around and wait to see their spinners finish their spells because they had three of them.

“At some stage I had to attack and after a couple of early boundaries I thought I need to put the pedal down, just to keep the momentum going. It was a good wicket, a bit up and down at the start,

“I thought Kamran batted beautifully and [together] we flowed rather nicely during throughout the innings. And when he wasn’t going and vice versa, we complemented each other to keep the scoreboard ticking over. So it was nice partnership between the two of us, something we needed as well after a shaky start. We not only needed to weather the storm but needed a win. Overall, the guys played really, really well,” Miller, who was scheduled to make his final PSL appearance in this edition against Multan Sultans, signed off.
