SARGODHA: A teenager was allegedly tortured to death by the Sillanwali police who arrested him on a complaint.

Muhammad Asim, 14, a resident of Islampura, Sillanwali worked as an apprentice at a tailoring shop and police arrested him on the complaint of Amjad Khichi of Chak 142-NB.

ASI Imran and Head Constable Asad Abbas allegedly kept the boy at their private torture cell and tortured him for five days and handed him over to the family when his condition deteriorated.

The family took the boy to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The doctors said the boy had died due to torture as his kidney failed and urinary bladder ruptured.

The bereaved family put the body on the main Satellite Town road and staged a protest in the scorching heat. Police did not bother to take notice of the protest for two hours but when the news of protest was aired, the DSP investigation along with his team reached the spot and assured the family that they would have the postmortem of the boy and register a case against those responsible for the torture.

Chief Minister Usman Buzdar took notice of the incident and sought a report from the regional police officer.
