LAHORE, Oct 24: A Twenty20 match between Pakistan XI and Rest of Pakistan XI will be played under floodlights at the Qadhafi Stadium on Oct 30 to raise funds for the victims of Oct 8 earthquake.

Shaharyar M Khan, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman said on Monday.

He pointed out that the PTV would telecast live the match starting at 7.30pm.

The chairman hoped that sufficient funds would be raised through the match as the PTV would not charge any telecasting fees.

The chairman clarified that he did not ask paceman Shoaib Akhtar not to speak to national press.

“I have only advised Shoaib to concentrate on cricket because it is better for him instead of creating problems by issuing statements,” the chairman said.

On Sunday, Shoaib refused to talk to the press saying the chairman stopped him from that.

The chairman further added that better facilities, including water and food, would be provided to spectators inside the stadium during the England series, to avoid any hardships to the public, which were noticed during the last home series against India in 2004.

He said that around 500 spectators from England were expected here to watch the matches.

The chairman said that the PCB was planning to hire a women foreign coach to prepare Pakistan team for the forthcoming first Asia Cup to be held in Karachi in December this year.

He said that the process to hire six coaches for the National Cricket Academy (NCA) would start after Imtiaz Ahmed, the former Test captain, reached Pakistan from the United States.

Imtiaz with PCB chairman Shaharyar M Khan and director cricket operations Saleem Altaf is included in the Panel of Interview.

He said that the process would take 15 days to fill the post. The NCA was closed in July this year in order to chalk out a new plan and run it on modern lines.
