KHAIRPUR, Oct 23: Six people, killed after having been kidnapped by bandits, were laid to rest in three different villages amid strict security measures late on Saturday night.

The villagers offered joint funeral prayers for the six.

Aslam alias Mahi, Mithal, Jameel and Fareed were buried at their native graveyard in Wali Mohammad Kandhro village.

Talib and Atta Mohammad were buried at Kolab Jeeal and Drib Rozi, respectively.

The accused have not been arrested as yet.

The Kandhro biradari of Kingri taluka and Khairpur held a joint meeting and decided to lodge FIRs and resolve the matter by adopting a legal course.

They decided that the district administration and police had sought three days for arrest of the accused hence they would wait and see if the promise was fulfilled.

Former District Nazim Nafisa Shah said the killing of six people was a result of police inefficiency.

She said that relatives of the kidnapped people had surrounded the bandits but police instead of taking action compelled the villagers to disperse so that bandits could escape.

She was talking to notables after condoling with relatives of the deceased here on Sunday.

She said though the killings were a purely criminal act but police would try to give it a colour of a tribal clash.

She alleged that criminals were used in the recent local body elections by coalition parties’ candidates and for that reason their acts were freely allowed.

BOOKED: The Gullu Siyal police booked 39 people here on Sunday evening on the complaint of Ghulam Hussain Kandhro following the kidnapping and subsequent killing of six people at the Fateh Mohammad Jo Dhoro area.
