KARACHI, Oct 15: The Inspector-General of Sindh Police, Syed Kamal Shah, announced on Monday a compensation of Rs500,000 each for the two police constables, Asif Khan and Jamal Baig, who were shot dead on Sunday night in Jamshed Quarters.
Paying tributes to the deceased constables, the IG said the entire police force felt proud of their sacrifice rendered to maintain peace.
He said those responsible for the killings would be brought to justice and would be given exemplary punishment.
He visited the residence of Jamal Baig in Teen Hatti, and announced the induction of his younger brother into police.
He said the Sindh police department was considering a proposal to establish a fund, like Punjab, to help the families of those police personnel who died in the line of duty.
The IG, through a circular, asked all police personnel to remain vigilant at their pickets and during patrolling in the city and to keep a close watch on the activities of mischievous elements.—PPI
