HYDERABAD, Oct 23: The chairman of the advisory committee of the Capital Cottage Industries Corporation, Mr Mohammad Amin Khatri, has stressed the need for establishing a cottage industries zone near the Zeal Pak Cement Factory through private sector.

In a press statement issued here on Saturday, Mr Khatri said that he had approached the Sindh finance minister to take personal interest in the establishment of such a zone.

He said that Japan, China and other countries established cottage industries in all districts to provide strong base for industrial development with great success.

He said that the speedy development of the countries was only due to mass industrialization and encouragement to entrepreneurs.

He requested the president and the prime minister to issue instructions to provincial governments to select suitable land, conveniently located and connected by roads for the establishment of industrial zones in all districts.

He said that for Hyderabad, the board of revenue Sindh had already moved a summary on February 16, 2005 which was pending approval in the office of the secretary industries Sindh.

Mr Khatri said that there was no legal hitch to provide available land for the industrial zone.

It may be mentioned that District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jameel also proposed establishment of an industrial zone in Hyderabad to create job opportunities for youth.

He told reporters on Saturday at a press conference that he had already talked to the provincial industries minister on the issue and held out an assurance that such a zone would be established as soon as possible.

The HCC&I also recommended to the government on many occasions to expand Hyderabad site as many a entrepreneur was ready to set up new industrial units in the site area.

According to reports, 300 acres of land has been earmarked for the expansion of site.

Millat-i-Jafria: Chief of the Millat-i-Jafria and senior vice president of the MMA, Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, has said that the government and the opposition were united on the issue of providing relief to earthquake victims and their rehabilitation.

He said all the political parties should shun their political differences and jointly work for the rehabilitation of the unfortunate victims of national calamity.

He was speaking at Chehlum of a well-known social worker and former registrar of MUET, Imdad Hussain Shaikh, here on Friday night.

Expressing profound sorrow and grief over the colossal loss of lives and property due to earthquake, he said that he had personally visited the affected areas and the extent of loss that he saw was simply impossible to assess.

He paid tribute to the Pakistani nation for its exemplary role in providing relief to their brethren and also expressed satisfaction over the efforts of the government in this regard.

DCO: DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed on Saturday presided over a meting to review progress of ongoing work in the new fruit and vegetable market being constructed outside the city near the lined channel.

He told the meeting that the incomplete work on the fruit and vegetable market would be completed within three months at a cost of Rs10 million.

He said that all efforts had been made to provide maximum facilities to fruit and vegetable merchants in the new project.

He said that with the shifting of the market outside Hyderabad, the problem of traffic would also be resolved to a great extent.

RELIEF GOODS: The district government has dispatched three truckloads of relief goods to Islamabad for the earthquake victims.

District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jameel said that all efforts were being made to dispatch relief goods to the victims of earthquake.

He said that earlier blankets, warm clothing and edibles as well as medicines with two medical teams were sent last week.

He urged the people to come forward and donate liberally for providing succour to earthquake victims especially blankets, warm clothing and medicines.

MEDICAL TEAM: The vice-chancellor of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Prof Jan Mohammad Memon, has dispatched another team of seven specialists to earthquake-affected areas for providing medical treatment to the injured.

A large quantity of medicines has also been dispatched.

Earlier, a team of ten doctors had been dispatched to affected areas soon after the natural calamity struck the northern country.
