MUZAFFARGARH: Sanawan police arrested on Saturday a woman who called 15 to lodge a fake kidnap and rape case against five people for extorting money from them.

Sanawan station house officer Mohammad Rizwan told this correspondent that police received a call through 15 emergency wherein a 36 years old woman claimed that she had been kidnapped and rapped five people.

Rizwan said his team reached the spot and investigated the matter. During questioning the complainant changed her statement and ultimately confessed to having made the call to extort money from her opponents.

The SHO said police had registered the case against the woman under the Telegraph Act and also imposed Rs 2,500 fine.

GANG: Jatoi police have arrested a gang of motorcycle snatchers.

SHO Zahid Mahmood Leghari said the gang was involved in murder, robbery and dacoity.
