BAJAUR: A remote-controlled bomb went off in Barang tehsil of Bajaur tribal district, killing a man, villagers and the police said on Saturday.

They said the incident occurred in hilly Sapary Targaoo locality, some 40 kilometres from Khar, the administrative town of the district.

They said Naseer Khan, 45, was on way home from a nearby locality when the bomb went off near him, leaving him seriously injured. The locals shifted him to the district headquarters hospital. The injured was later shifted to a Peshawar hospital due to his precious condition, but he could not survive.

No one has claimed responsibility for the incident.

The police launched an investigation into the incident after registering a case against the unknown persons.
