TORONTO, Oct 22: Sweden’s Carl Pettersson fired a sizzling 11-under 61 to take the lead after two rounds at the Classic on Saturday, but Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh, world number one and two, failed to make the cut.
Pettersson has just one top 10 finish this season and is still chasing his first career PGA Tour win but he turned in a massive effort at the Palm Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.
It included five consecutive birdies from the 13th to leave him at 17-under 127, two shots clear of American Tom Pernice.
The Swede had been tied with Pernice at 15-under overnight after severe weather forced officials to halt second round play late on Friday.
Woods returned, needing birdies on his two remaining holes.
But a bogey-par finish for a 73 left him on three-under 141, sealing his fate with the cut set at six-under. Woods was joined by Fiji’s Singh whose 71 meant a two-round total of four-under 140 and an early exit.
