QUETTA: At least seven people were killed and three others injured when two tribes clashed in the Barkhan area on Wednesday evening.

Barkhan Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Gul Khilji said the Jhang and Gajani tribes clashed over a land dispute in the Haji Kot area of Barkhan district.

“Seven people lost their lives in the gun battle which continued for two hours,” officials said.

Police and personnel of other law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene of the fighting to bring the situation under control.

The bodies and the injured were shifted to the district hospital Barkhan.

Hospital sources said four bodies and six injured were brought to the hospital where three of the seriously injured tribesmen died.
