LAHORE: Punjab PPP chief organiser and former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf pledges to mobilise the party cadres in the province.
Talking to party leaders, including Aslam Gill, at the provincial secretariat here on Tuesday, he said disgruntled and old guards of the PPP would be approached and mobilised as part of the plan to reorganise the party cadre in Punjab.
He said the whole country follows Lahore, the Punjab capital, in political matters, therefore, it would be given special attention in reorganisation of the party to be done on a war footing.
He said resistance is the real identity of the PPP, and claimed that the party was weakened in the population-wise largest province under a conspiracy. He would not say who hatched the conspiracy against the party and who diverted it from the resistance path. He hoped that the party would win the 2023 general election under the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto to implement its manifesto of roti, kapra aur makan.
Mr Ashraf telephoned Qamar Zaman Kaira, Chaudhry Manzoor and Syed Hassan Murtaza, the three Punjab leaders who recently resigned from their offices for failing to timely withdraw party’s candidate in Khushab by-polls against PML-N nominee there.
He paid tributes to the trio for their services in leading the party in Punjab during what he said were troubled times.
