LAHORE: A man was shot dead, another was found dead and three others were injured in firing incidents in various areas of the city on Sunday.

A young man was shot dead allegedly by his rival over a minor dispute in Batapur. Police claimed that Ali Nawaz, 28, of Awan village was travelling on his motorcycle when his opponent, Sajawal, opened fire on him. Nawaz suffered a critical wound and was taken to a nearby hospital where he died.

Police shifted the body to morgue and registered a murder case against Sajawal.

The investigating officer said Nawaz and Sajawal had got into a dispute a few days ago over the sale of chicken and the suspect had developed a grudge since then.

An armed Sajawal had first stopped Nawaz and later shot him dead, and fled from the scene.

Police constituted a team to conduct raids across the city to arrest the suspect.

Separately, a man was found dead in his house in Nishtar Colony. Police said Usman, 35, was lying unconscious in his house and the neighbours reported it to them.

Moreover, a shopkeeper was shot at and injured allegedly by his rival in Bhati Gate. Police said Fahad was sitting at his shop near Bhati Gate when his opponent, Sanjani, approached him. Both got into a heated argument during which Sanjani pulled out his gun and opened fire.

Fahad suffered a bullet wound and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was said to be critical.
