FAISALABAD: Five people were booked on charges of thrashing a doctor of a government hospital when he could not administer them the Covid-19 vaccine due to technical glitches in the system.

Submitting an application with the Batala Colony police, Dr Rizwan Ramzan of Government General Hospital in Haseeb Shaheed Colony stated that he was on duty on Wednesday when Abdul Haq Gujjar came to the hospital to get vaccinated. He said Gujjar was informed that the facility was not available as the system link was down.

Dr Ramzan said that after an hour Gujjar returned to the hospital along with his son and three others who thrashed and abused him.

Gujjar’s son also snatched the applicant’s mobile phone that was returned on the intervention of a man identified as Shafaqat Ali, whose credentials were not mentioned in the first information report. The hospital cameras recorded the incident, he added. Police registered a case under sections 147, 149, 186, 382 and 411 of the PPC with no arrests.

ROOF COLLAPSE: Two people were killed and another injured when the roof of their house collapsed in Jaranwala on Saturday.

Rescue 1122 sources said the roof of a two-storey building situated outside the village in Chak 63, Motiwala on Khurianwala Road in Jaranwala city caved in, apparently due to rain, and trapped the house inmates, including Safdar, 27, Ehtesham, 57, and Arif, 50.

Rescuers retrieved the body of Safdar and shifted the two others to Jaranwala THQ Hospital where Ehtesham died. The condition of Arif was also said to be critical.
