TAXILA: The local administration in Attock on Wednesday launched a crackdown on hoarders of essential food items and sealed a warehouse for hoarding sugar.

Following the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, district administration formed a special team, headed by Assistant Commissioner Ms Zaibul Nisa Nisar which launched surprise checks at various warehouses of the essential food items in the city.

During the raid, the team has sealed a private warehouse for hoarding as many as 2,442 bags of sugar. The owner of the warehouse was fined for the illegal stock while the sugar was confiscated by the district administration. The contraband will be later sold at government notified rates.

Assistant Commissioner Ms Nisar speaking on this occasion said no one will be allowed to hoard essential food items such as sugar, rice, ghee and so on.
