ISLAMABAD: Cash and valuables worth millions of rupees were stolen from 16 different areas of the capital.

In the first incident, suspects stole cash and valuables worth Rs600,000 from Imran Khan’s family in Sihala, the police said, adding the incident happened when the family was sitting in their car parked outside a mosque.

An armed man approached the family and held them up at gunpoint, they said, adding the suspect was able to escape with cash, ornaments and a mobile phone.

In another incident, burglars broke into Liaquat Hussain’s house located in G-6/1 and escaped with cash and valuables worth Rs620,000, the police said, adding the family was not present at the time of the robbery and upon returning, found their home ransacked.

Furthermore, cash and valuables worth Rs225,000 were stolen from a man identified as Salman Akber. Police said two suspects intercepted Akber when he reached Faisal Avenue, snatched valuables from him and escaped.

Likewise, robbers raided a house in Bhara Kahu and stole cash, they said, adding that four persons armed with weapons entered the house of Rais Ahmed and held up the residents at gunpoint. Later, they escaped with Rs25,000.

Similarly, suspects snatched cash from a woman in G-11 Markaz, police said, adding Mohammad Hasham’s sister was intercepted and the suspects snatched her purse carrying Rs26,000.

Cash and a mobile phone was snatched from a man in Dhok Jillani, they said, adding that two persons intercepted Jazib and snatched cash and a mobile phone worth Rs45,000 from him and escaped.

Thieves broke into a house in F-17/2 and escaped with ornaments, police said, adding that the incident happened in the house of Toheed Hayat from where the suspects stole ornaments worth Rs80,000.

Meanwhile, nine vehicles were also stolen from different areas.

A Toyota Corolla worth Rs2.8million and another worth Rs2.7 million were stolen from Khanna and I-8/3 respectively, police said, adding thieves also stole another Toyota Corolla worth Rs2.5 million from G-11/1, while a Hyundai Shehzore worth Rs1.4 million was lifted from F-11/4.

Two Honda 125, one worth Rs90,000, another worth Rs80,000 were lifted from Mira Aku and G-9/2 respectively, police said, adding that a United 100 worth R45,000, a Metro 70 worth Rs25,000 and a United 70 worth Rs30,000 were stolen from Ghouri Town, Bhara Kahu and G-6 Markaz respectively.
