Eid to be celebrated in Saudi Arabia tomorrow

KARACHI: After moon-sighting committee of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia confirmed that the crescent of Shawwal had not been sighted, Saudi authorities announced on Tuesday that Eidul Fitr would be celebrated in the country on Thursday (tomorrow).

“BREAKING NEWS. The crescent for the month of Shawwal 1442 was NOT SEEN today, subsequently #EidUlFitr will be on Thursday, 13 May, 2021,” said official twitter handle of Haramain Sharifain, an important source of news relating to holy sites in the kingdom on digital media.

“Royal Supreme Court: ‘Tomorrow the month of #Ramadan will complete 30 days and Thursday is first day of #EidUlFitr’.”

The Jeddah Astronomical Association had already hinted that there were little chances of sighting of moon on Tuesday, predicting that the Shawwal moon was likely to be sighted in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday (today).

The moon was not even born how could it be visible on 11th? Even on 12th the Moon in Saudi Arabia will be visible only with optical aid.

In the meantime, Saudis and their cousins in the Gulf - except the more rational and sensible Qataris - are mum about the fighting between Israel and Hamas, while dozens of Palestinians have been killed including a dozen kids, hundreds made homeless, injured and their homes and livelihood destroyed. Happy Eid in Saudi Arabia nevertheless. Afterall, Saudis are partners-in-crime with Isreal, against Iran and other Arab states, including the occupied Palestine.

@Falcon1, from where you are getting your news. Saudi and other gulf states have already made statements on the issue, Arab League has made statement, OIC chairman has made statements. Take your misinformation go to your Iranian masters and worship them. Talking about Hamas is this the only time Hamas fired rockets and launched baloons this year? No. Pick up any credible news source and start counting how many rockets Hamas fired in 2020? Iran backed Hamas is chronic troublemaker.

@IrfanL, Don't fll for lipservice by the Saudis and some Guld states - on the eve of Eid - to assuage the public anger in their own countries over the suffering of the Palestinians. The statements you mentioned, were bergudingly released, more than 72 hours after the skirmishes and Israeli attacks on Muslim worshipers inside the Al Aqsa mosque started over the weekend. Where were these ignorant Arab regimes until pro-Palestinians protests erupted in NY, London and in other Muslim nations?
