A total of 1,349 confirmed patients of coronavirus have currently been admitted to various hospitals. Of them, 490 are on low flow oxygen, 789 are on high flow and 70 on ventilators and are critical.

Health officials in Peshawar said that they looked towards the administration to ensure compliance of precautionary measures by the people as the third wave of the pandemic was more dangerous than the previous two waves.

The department has allocated 2,385 beds to Covid-19 patients in different hospitals of the province of which more than 1,000 are presently empty.

The people have been asked to pay heed to the SOPs including wearing masks, keeping social distancing and observe hand hygiene.

“If the people continue to ignore government’s calls for following SOPs, then the situation can become similar to that of June-July last year when the hospitals were overburdened and there was no room to admit patients,” said officials.
