LAKKI MARWAT: The University of Lakki Marwat has established a women development centre to provide an opportunity to the girl students to share their problems and learn from the educational experiences of their fellow students.
Speaking at the first meeting after formation of the centre, Vice-Chancellor Prof Aurangzeb called upon the students to concentrate on their studies and play an effective role in bringing a positive and constructive change in the society.
He said establishment of the centre would help the girl students to share their problems and learn from the educational experiences of their varsity fellows. “It will also provide a collective learning platform to them,” he added.
On the occasion, Dr Azra Fanoos, director student affairs and head of the centre, said besides extending all-out support to the girl students the centre would also make efforts to resolve the problems faced by them.

She said the women development centre would soon launch its magazine to encourage the girl students to develop their power of thinking and writing skills.
Separately, the Bannu administration on Friday arrested three fraudsters for deducting money from the cash they paid to the beneficiaries under the Ehsaas Cash programme.
An official said deputy commissioner Mohammad Zubair Niazi had received complaints about cash deductions.
He said during visits to Ehsas payment centres assistant commissioner Shaukat Ali found three persons involved in illegally deducting Rs300 from the cash given to each beneficiary.
“The arrested men were shifted to the police station concerned where preliminary reports were registered against them,” he maintained.
POWER DEFAULTERS: The Pesco recovery staff has recovered around Rs1 million from power defaulters in Bannu district during a special drive, an official said after a meeting chaired by Pesco Bannu executive engineer Imdad Khan on Friday.
He said the recovery staff with the help of the police also removed illegal connections in several localities and got registered cases against the power thieves.
Mr Imdad asked the relevant officials to control line losses and expedite the recovery campaign. He directed to recover power dues from industrial, commercial and domestic consumers with the help of police.
The Pesco executive engineer said the company had ensured uninterrupted power supply across the district during the fasting month.
