KARACHI: The Pakistan Rangers and police on Saturday jointly carried out an intelligence-based action in Essa Nagri and detained seven suspected street criminals.

The held suspects are identified as Jameel Akhtar, M. Ashraf, Nadeem alias Deepak, Michael John, Shahzad, Tariq and Saleem.

During the initial probe, the suspects ‘confessed’ to committing street crimes in Guls­han-I-Iqbal, Gulistan-I-Jauhar, Bahadurabad, Sabzi Mandi, Gulbahar and Nazimabad in an organised manner, said a paramilitary force spokesperson.

6.81kg gold recovered

Police on Saturday recovered around seven kilograms of gold of the 10kg gold which allegedly had been stolen from a shop in Gulf Shopping Mall in Clifton on Tuesday.

Earlier, the police had recovered three kilograms of gold from an office of a held suspect.

The police said around 10kg of gold was allegedly stolen from a shop in Gulf Shopping Mall in Clifton on Tuesday in which one of the jewellers himself was involved for some ulterior motives.

South SP investigation Imran Mirza said that with the help of CPLC South, the police had recovered remaining 6.81kg of gold on information provided by suspects.

He added that technical data and CCTV footage helped a lot in interrogation of the suspects which led to the recovery of the remaining 6.81kg gold.

Meanwhile, IGP Sindh Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar announced cash award for the police team for dealing with the case professionally.
