Farm tools industry being modernized

Published October 22, 2005

SIALKOT, Oct 21: A strategy is being finalized for tracking the agricultural tools manufacturing industry in Punjab on modern lines. Official sources told APP here on Friday that under the programme, the government would extend all possible technical support and guidance for the upgradation and capacity building to the manufacturing units of agricultural tools in the province.

Special attention would also be focused on upgradation of existing industrial units at Daska tehsil, which is famous for manufacturing of various types of agricultural gears with traditional technology.

The government had already initiated an action plan for extending loan facilities to the SMEs and other interested persons who intend to establish new industrial units including agro-based industries.

The government had set aside more than Rs8 billion for providing loan facilities to the SMEs and stakeholders for upgrading of their existing industrial units and for setting up of new units, sources added.—APP
