MANSEHRA: Two road accidents in Lower Kohistan district claimed lives of 10 people, including a man and his two siblings, on Wednesday.

The first incident occurred on the Karakoram Highway near Karo area when an ambulance carrying a body from Swat to the Kandia valley of Upper Kohistan district plunged into a ravine, leaving seven people critically injured.

The locals shifted the injured to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced all of them dead.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Umair (driver) belonging to Swat; Khushal Khan, Khan Bahadar and his wife, Firdous Bibi, Noorul Haq and his minor son and daughter, all belonging to Asghal area of Upper Kohistan.

In another incident which occurred in Chagal Kolai Zango area, a car skidded off the Karakoram Highway and plunged into a ravine, leaving three persons critically injured.

The locals shifted the injured to the Pattan Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead. The victims were identified as Shamsur Rehman, Ghulam Rasool and Abdullah.

The bodies were handed over to families after postmortem.

The police after lodging FIR started investigations to ascertain the exact cause of the accidents.

Also on Wednesday, a woman died after falling from a mountain.

She was the mother of six children, three of them girls.
