LAHORE: The postmortem of the Pakistani-origin British woman showed that she was first strangulated and then shot at and killed.

Mahira was found killed in a rented house in Defence on Monday night.

The police said deceased woman’s uncle Nazir told them she was killed by her friends identified as Zahid Jadoon and Asad Ameer Butt. On his complaint, the police registered a murder case against them.

Resident of Sabzazar, Nazir stated in the FIR that Mahira visited his residence hours before her death and told him that Zahid and Asad were hurling life threats on her as Mahira had turned down their proposal. Mr Nazir said he had assured Mahira that he would take up the matter with the police and the parents of both people the next day. It was, however, too late because a few hours after her visit, his brother-in-law from London called him and apprised him that Mahira had been shot at and injured critically at her Defence house.

“I rushed to the house, and found her in a pool of blood,” he said, adding that later it emerged that she had died instantly.

The complainant said that Mahira was allegedly killed by suspects with the connivance of two other people.

He told the police that she was living in a rented house along with her female friend Iqra.

A police official said a police team was after both suspects.
