MANSEHRA: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has planned to launch a street agitation against the government across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after Eidul Fitr.
“We are going to launch a street agitation against inflation and unemployment after Eid if the current coronavirus situation becomes normal,” Sardar Mohammad Yusuf, central senior vice president of PML-N, told journalists here on Sunday.
Mr Yusuf, who is also the PML-N parliamentary leader in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, said that a delegation of the senior party leaders met Shehbaz Sharif in Lahore and finalised strategy for the agitation.
“Shehbaz Sharif would address public gatherings at divisional level in the province. If Covid-19 prevails with the same pace, then he would address workers conventions in the planned cities,” he said.
He said that PML-N central president Shehbaz Sharif was committed to pull the country out of the current crises as the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government lost trust of people.
“Our street agitation would mostly be focused on inflation and unemployment as people couldn’t afford two times meal because of the wrong policies of the government,” said Mr Yusuf.
He said that government lost public backing and faced a landslide defeat in all the by-elections held in the country recently. “The people want to get rid of this unpopular government as it suffered defeat in Daska, Nowshera and Wazirabad by-elections,” said Mr Yusuf.
He said that government was in fact disgracing people by making them to stand in the long queues outside the utility stores in the name of subsidised essential commodities.
SEIZED: A joint team of food department and police seized a huge quantity of subsidised ghee dumped at a warehouse in Shaukatabad area here on Sunday.
The team raided a warehouse and seized a large quantity of ghee stolen from utility stores. “We have sealed the godown and launched an inquiry to nominate the person, who stole the ghee, in the FIR,” said an official.
Meanwhile, the residents of Siren valley have lauded the health department for administering the Covid-19 vaccine at the mental hospital in Dadar.
They said that earlier they were compelled to visit the vaccination centres established in other cities.
