THE recent information blackout that was imposed by the government in the wake of countrywide protests deserves serious condemnation. People want to be informed when there is a strike and why. In the absence of credible information, which is precisely what happens under censorship, the only thing that prospers in society is misinformation.
Such practices need to stop now. This is not how the state is supposed to govern. A media blackout is akin to a government lying to its citizens.
