Pakistani held with heroin in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 19: The Kuwait custom authorities have arrested a Pakistani and recovered from his stomach 1kg of heroin. According to reports, Lakrar Khan, 40, flew in Kuwait on a flight from Lahore. The customs authorities got suspicious about him and checked his luggage.

They did not find any contraband but still referred him to the Fawarniya hospital for X-ray and further investigation, the reports added.

The accused was put under observation for 48 hours after which it was found out that he had rubber capsules in his stomach. He was given laxatives and 58 capsules containing 1kg heroin were recovered.

Kuwait has adopted strict punishment for drugs smuggling and maximum punishment is death by hanging.
