ISLAMABAD: An infant and a minor girl drowned in the water tank of an under-construction house on Thursday, police said.

The incident took place at Sanam Chowk in Koral. Zaman Khan’s son and a six-year-old daughter taking their eight-month-old sister left home for a market to purchase grocery.

Later, the boy returned home alone. When the family asked about his two sisters, the boy said they disappeared on way to the market. The family and neighbours started searching for the girls during which some of them entered an under-construction house and found the two girls dead in the underground water tank.

Police were alerted about the incident who reached the spot. The bodies were retrieved from the tank and shifted to hospital.

The deceased were identified as Shazia, 6, and eight-month-old Sania. At the time of the incident, Sania was in the lap of her elder sister. The police said the incident was being investigated.
