ISLAMABAD: A security guard of a private housing society was murdered in an attack on the society’s office, police said.

The incident took place in Malot where a group of armed men attacked the society office. During an exchange of firing, the security guard sustained bullet injuries and was shifted to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The deceased was identified as Tanveer, 32. Over the incident, a murder case was registered against the attackers.

It is the second murder over a piece of land, said the police. In January, a villager was killed and another injured during a gunfight between two groups.

The police said there was a dispute between three families over 140 kanals in the village located in Banigala. Two of the families are locals and one is the resident of Model Town, they added.

A dispute is also under litigation for the last over two years. Two years ago, the police approached the revenue department for demarcation to establish the ownership of the land but a reply is still awaited.

The land is in the possession of two families, the police said, adding at least four clashes and brawls have taken place between the groups.
