THIS is with reference to the report ‘PM unveils plan to spend Rs446bn on Sindh uplift’ (April 17). The development and relief package deserves to be lauded, and now must be implemented by those concerned with due diligence.
The fact that the prime minister expressed his concern at the backwardness and misery of the people of Sindh and Balochistan was, indeed, an appropriate observation. One hopes that he will ask his own government now to assess the representation of the people of the two provinces in federal ministries and departments.
It will surprise him that Sindhis and Balochs have almost no share in many of the ministries, and have no control over the natural resources in their own provinces which are controlled by the outsiders, and it is one of the main reasons behind the plight of the people the prime minister talked about.
