LARKANA, Jan 22: The Zila Nazim, Khursheed Junijo, has ordered an inquiry into the ownership of the Jinnah Bagh, Larkana.
An inquiry officer will ascertain the facts within a fortnight.
Mr Junijo has appointed the Mukhtiarkar, estate, to complete the inquiry as the ownership of the park, which is situated in the heart of the city, and its proprietary rights could not be ascertained for the simple reason that both the city survey records and revenue survey records present different facts about the 19,704-sq-yd park.
The city survey record mentions it as Rijho Garden, which at a later stage was changed to Jinnah Bagh when the Quaid-i-Azam visited Larkana.
The revenue record mentions nothing about various buildings including the Ladies Club, Dharam Shala, Royal Cinema, Qazi Petrol Pump, Tourist Inn, Cafe Mumtaz, which fall within the vicinity of the Jinnah Bagh.
The Larkana Municipal Corporation (LMC) claims legal rights over the park. It has been engaged in a legal battle with the owner of the Royal Cinema.
The historic Tajjar Building is located within the park.
Mr Junijo said that it should at least be verified under which law and whose authority allotments and leases were being made by various agencies.
