LAHORE: Government College University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi says false and frivolous applications will not deter his spirit to work towards uplifting all aspects of work and education experiences.

He was speaking to the media in response to a complaint lodged against him to the Punjab governor by Computer Science Department chairperson Prof Dr Asad Raza Kazmi.

The vice chancellor said the visits to academic and administrative departments and discussions with faculty, staff and students on the issues were part of his job which he did with utmost dedication.

“It is very unfortunate that a routine visit to a department was misconstrued for ulterior motives, and a propaganda campaign was built around it,” said Prof Zaidi. He said the application contained false, inaccurate and misleading statements.

Prof Zaidi said the inquiry letter was erroneously issued to the Secretary of the Higher Education Department by the Governor Secretariat, which was later withdrawn.

He also expressed concerns that the inquiry letter was circulated among the media even before it reached the HED Secretary to defame him.
