ABBOTTABAD: The Ayub Medical Complex on Thursday closed outpatient departments and began treating only patients needing emergency care to handle the influx of coronavirus patients.

Spokesman for the complex Saif Rajput told reporters that elective services had been suspended and surgeries cancelled.

He also said the management had restricted the movement of patients and their attendants on the premises and stopped children and elderly people from entering the building as a precautionary measure against coronavirus.

The spokesman said currently, 98 patients were under treatment in Corona Ward as well as ICU, where 15 critical patients were admitted.

He said the doctors and health workers would check emergency patients strictly following guidelines.

Mr Rajput urged visitors to adhere to SOPs for coronavirus prevention and control.

SECURITY SITUATION: Deputy inspector general of police, Hazara division, Mirvais Niaz ordered the early completion of police investigations into cases and arrest of suspects for speedy action.

He issued orders during a meeting held here to review the law and order situation. The DPOs of different districts informed the DIG about the police’s performance.

Mr Niaz asked them to ensure regular patrolling by police and deployment of personnel at check posts during Iftar and Sehr hours. He also ordered the regular monitoring of suspected criminals, especially in Ramazan.

KILLED: A man was killed by his cousin here on Wednesday.

Obaidullah, a brother of six sisters, was gunned down by cousin Shezad in Shimla Hill area.

The police registered a case against the suspected killer and began search for him.
