ADB to give $75m to Balochistan

QUETTA, Oct 18: The government of Balochistan and the Asian Development Bank will sign an agreement in Manila for improving the social sector programme in the province.

The bank will provide $75 million loan under the agreement.

A four-member team of the provincial government, led by Senior Minister for Planning and Development Maulana Abdul Wasay, would leave for Manila on Oct 21 to sign the accord.

The ADB is providing the loan for strengthening education, health, public health engineering and district governments under the power devolution plan.

NIGERIAN HELD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Tuesday arrested a Nigerian national at the airport here on charges of smuggling drugs.

Madu Sabastine Zotachi who was booked on a flight to Dubai was detained at the Quetta airport during a routine check.

One kilogram of heroin was found concealed in the hidden cavities of his suitcases. A case has been registered against the accused.
