KARACHI, Oct 18: An FIR about misappropriation of relief goods meant for earthquake victims was lodged at the Gulshan-i-Iqbal police station. Police said a non-governmental organization under the name of Pakistan Helpline Welfare Trust had set a relief goods collection camp in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Block 4.

However, when a sizeable amount of goods were collected at the camp, one of its workers identified as Seher Jameel took away the entire stock in a truck either to his home or disposed it of somewhere.

The goods included milk cartons, mineral water, flour and other similar commodities, police said.

The matter was reported to the police by an official of the NOG identified as Ashraf Nawaz, who lodged FIR 530/2005 at the Gulshan-i-Iqbal police station. However, the accused has evaded arrest and is still at large.

ACCIDENTS: A man died in a road accident due to overspeeding in the DHA on Tuesday.

Police said the man, identified as Jehanzeb, rammed his car into a wall at the main Sunset Boulevard.

The victim was a resident of Phase VII, DHA police said. His body was sent to the JPMC for legal formalities.

In Mauripur, two persons were knocked down by a speeding truck.

The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital.
