KARACHI, Jan 22: The Al-Khadim group and its like-minded councillors have announced to boycott the elections for various committees of the City Council commencing from Wednesday.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Muhammad Siddique Rathore, chairman Al-Khadim group, and other Nazims and councillors accused the Al-Khidmat group of Jamaat-i-Islami, led by city Nazim Naimatullah Khan, of deviating from the pledges made at the time of elections for the city Nazim and town Nazims.

Al-Khadim and Amn groups had reached an agreement with the Al-Khidmat group, which provided for giving suitable representation to both the groups in different committees of the house, they said, adding that after coming to power the JI violated the agreement by electing three of its own members on the public safety commission.

Taazim Ahmed Siddiqui, Abdul Razaque Sanghani, Akhlaque Nabi, Yaseen Mian, Dr Syed Muhammad Iqbal Hussain, Saleem Qureshi, Nasreen Shamim, Mahfooz Nabi, Khalid Mumtaz, Siraj Qureshi and Riaz Qureshi were present on the occasion.—PPI
