‘Terrorist’ killed, four held in Sibi operation

QUETTA: A suspected terrorist belonging to a banned outfit was killed and four others were arrested in an operation launched by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in the Bakhtiarabad area of Sibi district.

A spokesman for the CTD said the personnel of the department acting on a tip-off raided the hideout of terrorists in the Gori area of Bakhtiarabad tehsil. During an exchange of fire, one terrorist was killed on the spot and four others were arrested, he added.

The suspect killed during the operation was identified as Haleem who was involved in various crimes, including killing a women and injuring two minor girls in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack.

Two Kalashnikovs, one rifle and material used in IEDs were recovered from the hideout, the CTD spokesman said, adding that three other terrorists managed to escape from the scene.

A case has been registered with the CTD Sibi police station and further investigation is under way.
