LAHORE, Oct 16: The Punjab Environment Protection Tribunal on Saturday issued notices to the EPA director-general, Multan DCO and management of four cotton waste factories.
The tribunal, comprising Syed Zamir Husain Shah and Mansoor Akbar Kaukab, issued notices on the complaint filed by Imran Ahmed Bhatti on behalf of Eco Watch Trust alleging that Muhammad and Javed cotton waste factories of Vehari Road and Akhtar and Haji Muhammad Shafi factories of Ghanta Ghar Chowk were polluting the atmosphere by discharging dust in the air through the carding process.
People living in the vicinity of the factories were exposed to the threat of respiratory diseases.
