FAISALABAD: Millat Town police claimed to have arrested a man on charges of raping and killing his minor stepdaughter in Chak 201-RB, Chandian Talawan.

Submitting an application to the police, the five-year-old victim’s mother said that her daughter had left home to play outside on Saturday evening, but did not return. She along with scores of others searched for the minor and found her body in a room outside their house.

“A suspect managed to escape from that room when we reached there,” she added. Police registered a murder-cum-rape case on Saturday night and on Sunday claimed to have arrested the minor’s stepfather.

City Police Officer Sohail Chaudhry said four teams had been constituted to investigate the issue. During investigation, police found the stepfather changing his statements

and took him into custody. The suspect confessed to committing the crime as blood stains were also found on his trouser.

Mr Chaudhry said the minor victim’s body was found at the back of her own house under the stairs in a veranda.
